Hopeful
Even after such a long life of suffering, Xander always holds out hope of being free and going to his true home. Even on the worst days, his dreams keep him going.
Obedient
Xander has learned not to defy his owners. When younger he was very rebelious, but as life went on he has begun to learn there's no use in attempting to escape or refusing orders. He looks to please his owner in hopes of avoiding punishment.
Though, a small part of him still wants to stand up for himself and push the limits, though he rarely lets this side of him show.
Intelligent
Anaximander is extremelly intelligent for a slave. He takes any opportunity presented to him to read, write, etc. He has a fantastic memory and can easily recall events with almost complete accuracy. He will often snatch a book or any other form of learning material he can get his hands on. Though he does not flaunt his intelligence, he is quite proud of it and loves the rare opportunity to show it.
Observant:
Not much escapes the notice of Anaximander. He is constantly listening to those around him, absorbing every word. The fact that he rarely talks most likely helps this as he is easily forgotten about.

History
Anaximander was taken slave at a very young age. Only a few years old, just as the war began. His father had kept both him and his mother safe for as long as he could, even gave up his own wings to the damned in battle. Though, soon a damned scout discovered their home and the young angel alone inside. This was when he was taken. Anaximander, being too young to understand the severrity of his situation, went happily with the scout.
His life with the damned was simple at first, they treated him as any other family would, even allowing him to keep his wings while all other angels had been stripped. Though, somewhere between the age of 16 and 18, everything changed. His "family" suddenly turned on him, strapping a collar to his neck, beating him, and stripping him of his wings. Xander felt confused and betrayed, his free and happy life was so suddenly ripped from him.
Since that day he has been shipped from owner to owner, forced to participate in disgusting activities with each one. He is hardly fed, beaten almost constantly, and treated like some kind of pet. He, too this day, believes it to be his fault for the betrayal of the scout he had begun to see as his family. [Will edit later]
